War Child

Dear friends,

I have been playing for War Child fundraisers over the past couple of years in my hometown of Nelson BC. My wonderful young friends, Laura Metcalf and Zoey Ockenden, along with a dedicated crew of fellow high school friends, have been working tirelessly to raise money and awareness for this wonderful organization.

The main event they work on is a very successful day long music festival called Keep the Beat, which takes place in Nelson’s beautiful Lakeside Park each July.

Through these marvelous events I have come to learn a ton about this important NGO. One of the events I played at was a talk by Samantha Nut, founder of War Child. It was a very motivating event and, when she had finished speaking, I asked if there was anyway I could contribute as a touring musician. Since then we have been coming up with ideas of how I can raise funds and awareness while on the road. I feel so inspired and excited about them and their work. Please check out www.warchild.ca. we are so lucky to have such an amazing team in our county doing such important work for children affected by War all over the world!

It is important for us to be aware of the issues of child soldiers and the various ways children are devastated by war. Lets use this wonderful resource to help us do our very important part.

Thank you!

With Love

Aspen

PS if anyone wants to get involved in helping us organize fundraising events at Colleges and Universities, community centers, woman’s centers…anywhere really please get in touch with me, I would love the help. A team can move mountains!

Aspen,

I’m not sure I could help ‘War Child’ by organizing something but could I give a small donation to the fund?
